Quintanilha
Quintanilha, located in Bragança District, is a Portuguese village which borders Spain. It is part of the Parque Natural de Montesinho (Montesinho Natural Park) and is marked by the Maçãs river which is a cross-bordering river. Because the natural park is a protected area, it presents a vast natural landscape characterized by its low pollution, green prairies and clear waters. Maçãs river is made up of various agricultural areas and allotments where potatoes, pumpkins, corn and fruit trees such as walnut trees, chestnut trees, fig trees, olive trees, etc, are predominant.
On the noble/famous Santiago Path, Quintanilha servs as a doorway to Portugal through the slope called Via da Prata. This slope is of great cultural and touristic richness as it passes places with exquisite gastronomy and a vast architectural inheritance where the visitor can marvel at Romanesque, Medieval and Gothic architecture.
Moreover, Quintanilha's heritage has many diverse attractions. The most significant being: Santuário da Nossa Senhora da Ribeira (Sanctuary); the Mills; Colado's Leisure Park (with a riverside beach on Maçãs river); both Churches (Igreja do Menino Jesus e Igreja de S. Tomé); two belvederes (Miradouro do Barrocal e Miradouro da Petada); the Fountains; and the Comunitary Forge.
