The «Nature and Forests Youth Volunteering» programme promotes practices of protection for nature, forest and its ecosystems, by raising awareness in the general population and helping to preserve nature from environmental catastrophes such as forest fires by monitoring and restoring affected territories. 

 

Goals

  • Monitoring and Inventory of animal and plant species at risk;

  • Identify, Monitor and maintain forest paths and access to water spaces;

  • Recovery of traditional footpaths;

  • Cleaning and maintenance of leisure parks; 

  • Mobile vigilance, by foot or bike, in the areas limited by the local coordination entities; 

  • Inventory of areas in need of cleaning; 

  • Logistical support to the Wild Animal Recovery Centers; 

  • Logistical support to the Forest Fire Prevention and Detection Centers;

  • Inventory and monitor burnt forest areas; 

  • Afforestation activities; 

  • Invading species controlling activities; 

  • Other activities integrated in the programme's intervention areas.

Besides the Youth Volunteering Programmes which is in partnership with the Portuguese Government, it is habitual to have actions from International Volunteer - Work Camp, which this year that was not possible to realise.
